A HUGE thank you goes out to everyone who participated in this event. We wish would could give a prize to everyone, but alas, we can’t. Hopefully the experience and discovery of our lovely sponsors was a prize in and of itself. We couldn’t have put on this event without you!

We encourage everyone to check out our sponsor discounts page, many of which have been extended beyond the end of the giveaway. There are some truly great offers for some fabulous indie goods.

Recycled / Reusable Packaging

After packing up and shipping out the Happily Handmade gift boxes it occurred to me I should post a little something about our shipping process.  The contents of each gift box are packed inside USPS shipping boxes, which are reusable and recyclable and have been awarded the Cradle to CradleSM certification. We then reuse the packing materials used to keep the handmade goodness inside each gift box safe and sound during shipping:  we save the packing materials our Sponsors use to ship their goods to us, to use when we ship the gift boxes to you. And you can reuse those same materials to ship your packages in the future.  Then we ship via the USPS Priority Mail service, which delivers your gift box to with your regular daily mail delivery which saves energy.

I suppose we could use shiny new packing materials that would jump out of their boxes with their sparkly attractiveness, but we opt for a more environmentally friendly method.  And no, the materials aren’t as green as they could be. Currently, it isn’t within the Happily Handmade budget to purchase completely eco-friendly packaging products.  But we do what we can to use as little as possible, waste nothing and reuse everything we can.

Congratulations!!!

Congrats to all of our lucky winners!!  You will not be disappointed when you see the contents of the super fine Happily Handmade gift boxes!!

Gretchen Maser (a.k.a. Christina) started her Lancaster, PA based Christina Maser product lines around 1990 when a friend taught her how to make jam! That fateful day led to many other fateful days of gardening, soap making and finally candle making.  Christina Maser now offers bath and body products, soy wax candles and gourmet food products under the company names Christina’s Pantry and Christina Maser.

Traveling to the Northwest

The Northwest corner of America seems to be home to a large concentration of indie artists within our crafty movement. I’ve been dreaming of a trip to the Northwest, one of these days it will happen. Here are two such examples of artists hailing from parts northwest-ward.

Lynae Straw is a ceramicist in her early 20’s, living in San Francisco, CA.  Lynae is the artist behind Panopoly Creations.  Lynae states that her ”aesthetic is one of simple, natural elegance. Although I’m an urbanite I’m mostly inspired by nature”.

Being a new sponsor to our Happily Handmade events, Lynae has contributed 20 very unique and equally beautiful Porcelain Poem Pendant Necklaces!  We couldn’t be more pleased she could join us for this event!!  Each Poem Pendant Necklace is handbuilt using stoneware clay and glazes. Lynae does not use a potter’s wheel. She uses an electric kiln to fire all of her ware, firing at temperatures in excess of 2000 degrees Farenheit.

Heading north to Seattle, WA, you’ll find bath and body maven Michelle Gephart of Lemon Lollipop.  Michelle admits that the idea behind her Lemon Lollipop online store and the crazy delicious bath and body products she creates came to her between loads of laundry one evening!  Now knee-deep in scents and ideas, Michelle manages four additional etsy shops featuring her candles, home, bath and body products!

Michelle has been a sponsor in the past, contributing her SparklePuss Candle tins! For this event, Michelle has donated one $25.00 Gift Certificate and a Lemon Lollipop Perfume Set for 2 lucky winners!
